GrandParents Hands & Children Charities (GPHCC) is a healing‑centered, intergenerational nonprofit that supports K–12 students through:

We partner with universities to place trained, supported college students into schools to strengthen classrooms and help students thrive.
GPHCC offers multiple pathways for college students to serve in K–12 schools:
Classroom Support Roles
Small‑group instruction, reading/math support, behavior support, and teacher assistance.
Mentoring & SEL Coaching
One‑on‑one or small‑group mentoring using trauma‑informed, healing‑centered practices.
After‑School & Enrichment Programs
Homework help, clubs, leadership groups, and wellness activities.
Service-Learning & Practicum Placements
For education, psychology, social work, public health, and human services majors.
Internships & Workforce Development
Aligned with WIOA, peer support training, and community engagement pathways.
Research & Evaluation Projects
Universities may partner with us on attendance, SEL, or community‑based research.
All university students receive GPHCC’s signature training, which includes:
Trauma‑informed and healing‑centered engagement
SEL and emotional wellness strategies
Classroom management basics
Youth development and mentoring frameworks
Cultural humility and guardian‑inclusive communication
Safety, boundaries, and mandated reporter expectations
Schools may require:
BCI/FBI background checks
District onboarding
FERPA and confidentiality training
GPHCC ensures students are prepared, supported, and school‑ready.
We offer flexible models depending on the university’s structure:
5–10 hours/week — service-learning or volunteer placements
10–20 hours/week — paid internships, work-study, or WIOA placements
Semester or year-long — education majors or practicum students
Short-term projects — research, capstones, or special initiatives
Schools prefer consistent weekly schedules to support classroom stability.
GPHCC uses a shared supervision model:
University Faculty/Staff
Academic oversight, reflection assignments, and evaluation.
School-Based Supervisors
Daily guidance, role clarity, and classroom expectations.
