Why Should Ohio Schools Partner with GrandParents Hands Children Charity

Schools choose GPH because we strengthen what they are already working hard to do every day—support students, reduce teacher burnout, and close gaps that districts cannot fill alone.

What We Bring to Your School:

  • Trained mentors and tutors who provide consistent, caring support

  • Direct relief for teachers through small‑group help, relationship‑building, and classroom support

  • Additional staffing at no cost through our university partnerships

  • Attendance and transportation support, modeled after our work with Dayton Public Schools

  • Intergenerational support from grandparents and community volunteers

  • Improved student engagement, confidence, and academic performance

📚 What Your School Gains

  • A pipeline of future teachers through our college partnerships

  • Reduced teacher burnout and increased classroom support

  • More individualized help in overcrowded classrooms

  • Stronger attendance and engagement

  • A safer, more connected school climate

  • No additional cost to your school budget

  • A trusted, countywide partner aligned with Montgomery County’s mentoring initiatives

🧩 How the Partnership Works

1. Submit Your School’s Interest Form

We gather basic information about your school’s needs, grade levels, and goals.

2. Introductory Meeting

We meet with your principal or leadership team to align expectations and identify priority areas (attendance, tutoring, SEL support, etc.).

3. Safety & Compliance Alignment

We review background checks, confidentiality expectations, and school protocols.

4. Scheduling & Placement

We work with your teachers and counselors to schedule mentors/tutors during:

  • Reading blocks

  • Math blocks

  • Intervention periods

  • After‑school programs

  • Attendance support times

5. Launch Day

Mentors begin supporting classrooms, small groups, and individual students.

6. Ongoing Communication & Support

We maintain weekly check‑ins with school staff to ensure smooth operations and adjust support as needed.

👥 Who We Serve

We support:

  • Elementary, middle, and high schools

  • Students needing academic support

  • Students struggling with attendance

  • Students needing emotional or relational support

  • Classrooms with high student‑to‑teacher ratios
