Every child deserves a responsible mentor and tutor!
Every young person deserves someone in their corner.
Your presence can change a young person’s life — and strengthen our entire community.
Students today face more stress and emotional pressure than ever before. National public‑health data shows that mental health challenges are one of the leading causes of harm among teenagers. That’s why trained, caring adults are essential in schools and churches.
When you join GrandParents Hands as a mentor/tutor, you become part of a healing‑centered, hope‑building movement for youth.
Build a consistent, supportive relationship with a young person who needs encouragement, stability, and a trusted adult.
All mentors also serve as tutors. Academic confidence is one of the strongest protective factors for youth success — and your support helps students believe in themselves.
You don’t need special credentials — just a willingness to learn and a heart for youth.
This includes background checks, confidentiality, and mandated reporter expectations.
We provide all required training at no cost, including:
Trauma‑informed mentoring
Youth Mental Health First Aid
Cultural humility
Safety and boundaries
Mandated reporter awareness
Tutor readiness and academic support strategies
This training ensures you can support students safely, confidently, and compassionately.
Eligible mentors and tutors may receive a paid apprenticeship stipend after completing training and committing to consistent service.
This helps remove barriers and supports volunteers who want to grow into youth‑serving careers.
Please share your interests, availability, and preferred placement.
